Product Overview

Mazda’s Oslo Crystallizer, also known as a classified-suspension crystallizer, is a proven system for producing large, coarse crystals with a narrow size distribution. Unlike conventional crystallizers, it operates without mechanical agitation, reducing energy requirements and minimizing breakage of growing crystals. The design incorporates a fluidized bed for controlled desupersaturation and a liquor-vapor separation zone for solvent removal, ensuring steady, uniform crystal growth. Ideal for long continuous production cycles, the Oslo Crystallizer is engineered for efficiency, reliability, and durability across diverse industrial applications.

Advantages

  • Produces large, coarse crystals with a narrow size range.
  • Offers lower operating costs than conventional crystallizers.
  • Requires minimal energy due to reduced crystal attrition.
  • Supports extended production cycles between washing.
  • Suitable for both reaction and separation crystallization processes.

The Oslo Crystallizer operates in two main sections. In the classifying crystallization chamber, a fluidized bed of crystals progressively removes supersaturation from the incoming liquor, promoting uniform growth. The liquor-vapor separation zone develops supersaturation through solvent removal, after which the liquor is cooled and recycled back into the crystallization chamber via a heat exchanger. This closed-loop process ensures controlled growth, minimal breakage, and efficient use of energy.
